Suzy's Helping Hands - August Newsletter

Dear friends,

I cannot believe it is August already, and I actually grieve when I see summer coming to it's halfway mark. Spring and summer are my favorite times of the year.

This newsletter will give you some tips on how to enjoy the remaining lazy days of summer but also prepare you for September and getting back into the swing of things.

If your kids are going back to school, let's think about getting their rooms ready. It's a good time to go through closets and clean out clothes they no longer wear before bringing in the new.

Set up a desk area and clean out last year's papers and back packs that were thrown into the corner and are not needed for this upcoming school year.

Do a fresh cleaning of their room, remove all summer dust bunnies from under the bed and give them a new and fresh learning environment.

If you have young adults leaving for college, check out local garage sales for apartment or dorm needs. You won't find everything but you will find unique items for good deals! Once they are gone, utilize the new empty spaces to fulfill your remaining family's needs.

For those of you who are empty nesters or grandparents, take your grandchildren out before school starts and the craziness begins. Plan a fun day. My 18 year old and I are going on a kayaking trip. Have fun and end your summer by making a memory!

With the freedom of summer coming to an end, make the transition easy on yourself and your family. Organization will help you start the new season off right.

As I come to the end of my summer days, I like to take walks or go out into the back yard and soak in the warmth of nature around me.

Before you know it the leaves will be falling and the sidewalks slippery with snow. Try to take a few days off even if you have already had your vacation. Make August your lazy month, but remember to also take time to ponder the things you would like to accomplish for the fall. Get your wheels turning, but continue to relax and enjoy what's left of summer...
