Suzy's Helping Hands - September Newsletter |
Dear friends,
Exciting travels, lively gatherings and just good old-fashioned summertime relaxing...
I don't mean to scare anyone, but now that Labor Day is over, the beginning of crunch time is upon us!
Here are some tips for September to help you enjoy the end of summer days while welcoming in the fall. The best way to ease into the fall is to start with a plan, and everyone knows a good plan begins with a list.
Your list should involve all of the change of season tasks you would like to have completed by Halloween. Yes, all of them... this will make the holidays easier. Besides your list, the second thing to focus on this month is shifting your closets from summer to fall. I started this week by taking all of my whites and half of my sleeveless shirts and retiring them... I did begin to cry, because I hate saying goodbye to summer.
Sundresses were also boxed up and all but one swimsuit laid to rest. Each time you do laundry, instead of placing them in your closet, pack them away. This makes the process much smoother, and from what remains, sell or donate some of those things you thought you would wear this summer but did not; remember we only wear 20% of our wardrobe... Also, go through all other closets and organize and change over summer games and beach chairs and make space for lawn furniture.
Begin putting away grills, patio furniture, etc. Soon summer mowing will be replaced with raking and leaf blowing.
Leave the garden beds alone with annuals until they look absolutely horrid, but replace porches and front entrances with mums around the third week of September.
Be sure to reward yourself throughout this process so long as the weather allows, by attending outdoor Ohio State parties or throwing your own. Be sure to go and dine on an outdoor patio with friends. I'll try not to blow your mind here, but also begin thinking about Christmas presents... buy early this year so the bills are not so exorbitant in January.
And just remember what's to come, beautiful leaves changing colors followed by holidays to celebrate with loved ones, and then soon summer will be upon us again! God bless you all, Suzy
